A Historic Gathering
On July 22nd, the Real World Psychedelic Consortium convened for its inaugural meeting, marking a pivotal moment in the shift towards community-centered psychedelic science.
The event was a resounding success, bringing together over 100 attendees from multiple countries. The diversity of the group reflected the Consortium's core mission to break down silos; the virtual room was filled with an interdisciplinary mix of:
- Academic Researchers sharing the latest observational data.
- Policy Makers looking for evidence to guide regulatory frameworks.
- Students representing the next generation of psychedelic science.
- Community Leaders advocating for indigenous and grassroots perspectives.
Setting the Agenda
The meeting focused on establishing our shared values and identifying the most urgent gaps in current psychedelic research. Attendees participated in breakout sessions to discuss the challenges of collecting real-world data and the importance of protecting the rights of people who use psychedelics (PUPs).
This gathering served as the foundation for our working groups and set the stage for the collaborative projects we are launching in the coming year.
